Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for your health, especially your digestive system. Our bodies are full of bacteria, for the most part healthy but occasionally overrun with harmful bacteria. Probiotics has a particular positive effect on the digestive system.
Probiotics, or beneficial gut microbes, influence many functions in your body and has a particular effect on weight, energy, nutrition, and your brain.
Foods containing probiotics include yogurt, some cheeses, and some pickled vegetables. It must be noted that not all people react the same to the various types of probiotics, just as each individual reacts differently to the various foods available.
Some strains of probiotics can be highly beneficial and help with proper digestion, the prevention of diarrhoea and autoimmune diseases, allergies and colds as well as help with skin conditions and in some cases, oral health.
The two major groups of probiotics are Lactobacillus which is probably the most common probiotic, and Bifidobacterium which can be found in some dairy products.
